A duffel bag abandoned on a Tulsa gas station counter was found with five tiny puppies zipped inside. Four Tulsa Police officers and a QuikTrip employee adopted the family of pups just in time for their first Christmas.

On Christmas night, an employee at a Tulsa, Oklahoma QuikTrip found a duffel bag left abandoned on the convenience store counter. The employee contacted police after discovering five tiny puppies zipped inside.

Four officers with the Tulsa Police Department responded to the call. Each of them, and the QuikTrip employee that found the bag, offered to provide a home for each of the pups. For their very first Christmas, the young puppies would not be left alone.

“Overwhelmed with Christmas feelings, four of the officers immediately adopted four of the puppies, and the fifth went home with the QT employee,” Tulsa police said on Facebook. “Big thanks to the cute pups, awesome officers and QT employee.”

Thanks to Tulsa Police and the QuickTrip employee, each of the five puppies had a family for Christmas. Now, they’ll ring in the New Year in the comfort of a warm home, too. For so many abandoned dogs each year, the ending isn’t always so bright.

It is NEVER appropriate to abandon a dog or puppies. If someone is unable to provide for their care, there are always better alternatives. If you, or someone you know, needs help providing pet food or paying for care, there are resources available.
