Chip Sammons has been owner and janitor of the Holistic Pet Center in Clackamas, Oregon since 1988. The Holistic Pet Center, also known as ‘”The Health Food Store for Pets”, seeks to provide healthy alternatives that support the immune system of dogs and cats.
Chip was awarded the “Small Business of the Year” by the North Clackamas County Chamber of Commerce, of which he is a member, for his “business success and contributions to the community”. A small part of Chip’s contribution is his sharing of research, magazine and journal articles, and news items on his weekly radio program, “Pet Nutrition and News with Chip Sammons”.
Chip has completed the Pet Industries Joint Advisory Council’s Canine Specialist program, the Basic Nutrition for Pets course from Colorado State University, and attended the Canine Nutrition program at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
In addition to being awarded “Specialty Store of the Year” in 2000, and “Holistic Pet Business of the Year” in 2006 and 2009, Oregon Business Magazine has named Chip as one of Oregon’s 50 Great Leaders! He also recently earned the 2013-2014 Outstanding Health and Wellness Promotion Award from Pet Product News International.
His Bachelor of Arts and post graduate studies took place at California State University, at Hayward.
