Anyone that’s worked in rescue or an animal shelter knows that volunteers are an absolute necessity to continue the work of saving animals. Volunteers donate their time, their hands, and their hearts in a variety of ways.
And here’s one very special volunteer who’s donating his time and his paws to the cause!
Meet Boots, a 12-year old gentle boy, a Hurricane Katrina survivor, and one of the Arizona Humane Society‘s most lovable volunteers!
Boots visits the shelter every Wednesday for one very special purpose – to be a kitten nanny!
He loves the attention from staff and from the kitties that climb all over him, and, he’s helping to socialize them, making them more adaptable to new things and, in turn, more adoptable!
“It is such a win-win for everyone involved,” said Bretta Nelson, the Humane Society’s public-relations manager told NBC News. “Boots loves it. Most of the kittens love it. Some are very scared at first, but the whole thought is to get them acclimated to being around dogs.”
