John Clifton is a freelance writer, pet enthusiast and author. He co-wrote (with his wife Josée Clerens) “Sparky Fights Back: A Little Dog’s Big Battle Against Cancer.” This book, about his dog’s triumph over “incurable” lymphoma, became a Dog Writers of America Best Book Award finalist and an Amazon bestseller. After its publication, Clifton edited the “Canine Cancer Monthly” — an online publication featuring the latest news and treatments regarding all types of cancers in dogs.
During the course of Sparky’s treatment, Clifton’s oncologist disallowed any further vaccinations of any kind. This seemed odd at first, since vaccines, he thought, would be disease fighters. After investigating the topic, he realized that vaccines could also be disease inviters.
The more he looked into it, the more curious he became about the pros and cons of vaccinating pets. This led to a year of research on the topic, interviews with leading veterinarians, and culling information from veterinary professional literature. His investigations culminated in his widely popular book “Stop the Shots! : Are Vaccinations Killing Our Pets?“
Clifton has been a frequent guest on radio and TV, where he talks about pet vaccines, their dangers versus their benefits, and how to formulate your own vaccination plan based upon many factors, such as your pet’s age, contact with other animals, geography, etc. Book reviews and reader responses praise Clifton’s ability to explain a complex subject in simple terms that everyone can understand.
