Welsh rugby star, Jason Tovey, is watching the big game on TV instead of on the field after his puppy ate his passport!

The 23-year old Cardiff Blues player was meant to be in France to play the outside half position in rugby’s Heineken Cup on Saturday. Bags packed and headed to the airport, Tovey reached for his passport to find his Labrador Retriever puppy, Buster, had chewed the important identification nearly in half!

Tovey told BBC News, . “It’s a bit like the old schoolboy excuse that the dog ate my homework. Buster is always chewing things but usually it’s my sock and shoes.”

The rugby star was dreading telling the team coach that, because of his teething puppy, he would miss the important game.

Tovey has ordered a replacement passport which, he says, he’ll keep on the top shelf, away from his hungry pup. Until then, a Cardiff Blues spokesperson says, “He’s in the doghouse!”
