Two Massachusetts State Troopers were given the best reward of all – getting showered with Golden Retriever kisses – after they rescued a dog that was trapped under a car.
Troopers Paul Bertozzi and Daniel Nunes came to the rescue after a Hampden County resident accidentally backed her vehicle over her dog, wedging him beneath the car.
The officers used jacks to lift the car high enough to release the dog. As soon as he was free, the grateful Golden ran over and showered the officers with kisses and licks to the face!
The dog luckily only suffered minor burns, but is otherwise doing well.
Trooper Bertozzi responded to another call that same evening and helped to save another dog who’d been hit by a car.
At a time when police and dog encounters don’t always end so well, it’s refreshing for a little good news!
These troopers did a wonderful thing – take a moment to tell them “thanks” at the Massachusetts State Police Facebook page by clicking here.

After reading so many stories where police have, in my opinion, wrongfully shot and killed dogs. It is nice to read a wonderful story about how these two state troopers saved this dog. WAY TO GO GUYS!!!!

What a heart warming story. I had a kitten up in a tree and a police officer saw me in the tree trying to get it down. He told me to come out of the tree and he would get the cat and he did.

It is about time that we have some great news regarding the police, the police here in the state of Massachusetts are some of most caring officers that you will come across…I’ve see them in action with people, animals and in other circumstances…Bravo to these 2 officers…
