Denver International Airport officials are trying to determine who brought a dog to the 6th level passenger drop-off area, tied her up, and left her there.
Airport employees found the dog on Thursday wearing a collar and leash, but no identification or microchip. They took the very thin, malnourished dog inside, fed her white rice from the airport food court’s Panda Express restaurant and some chicken breast from Burger King, and called Animal Control.
As a team, airport employees cared for the dog for the next 6 hours. Afraid to turn a sick dog over to animal control for fear that she would be euthanized, United Airlines employee Mike Scott decided to bring her home with him.
Mike, whose own dog just passed away from cancer in February, is still deciding whether or not he will keep her. He did take her to his veterinarian who confirmed she is extremely malnourished.
Scott joked to KUSA-TV that he won’t be bringing home anymore dogs any time soon.
A GoFundMe account has been created to raise funds for the veterinary care of this dog. To help, click here: www.gofundme.com/bg8gc0
