When Hope for Paws received a call about two homeless dogs living in a junkyard, he jumped in the car, determined to rescue the pair.

Upon arriving, they found two small dogs, a male and a female, covered in motor oil and very frightened. The female was more frightened than her courageous brother, so Eldad Hagar and Lisa Arturo rescued her first, reaching into a tiny space to pull the scared dog to safety.

Once they had the adorable girl safely in their arms, her brother came right over. Very quickly, both dogs realized they were finally safe. Eldad and Lisa named them Elmer and Elsie.

The video below shows their amazing rescue and their even more amazing transformation into happy, healthy, and carefree pups!

The pair are now looking for a forever home, together. For information or to adopt, visit Maltese Rescue California.
