What better way to spend your Thanksgiving evening, recovering from your turkey coma, than settling down with your dogs in front of the TV and watching the first ever television prime-time special devoted entirely to dog-rescue!

Tune in on Thursday night to FOX, and watch “Cause for Paws: An All-Star Dog Spectacular” hosted by Hillary Swank and Jane Lynch, aimed at showcasing the wonderful world of rescue dogs and encouraging people to adopt.

The Dogington Post attended the taping of Cause for Paws last weekend in Santa Monica, California, and it was indeed a star-studded event! We saw dog-loving celebrities like Betty White, Kristen Chenoweth, Julianne Hough, Kathy Griffin, Paula Abdul, and Channing Tatum walking available rescue pups down the red-carpet.

Kristen Chenoweth fell in love with this little black terrier named Luna and when she reached the end of the red carpet, she didn’t want to give her up!

Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell brought three rescue pups down the red carpet, and were happy to talk about their own furry family members – the pet-loving couple have three dogs and two cats of their own. Rebecca said having rescue pups at home was an incredible help when her kids were babies, joking that the dogs were happy to help clean up anything the kids dropped onto the floor. Meanwhile, Jerry was totally smitten with 13-year old senior dog, Bubbles, who is available to adopt.

Kathy Griffin was more than happy to tell The Dogington Post about her dogs! The comedian told us one of her dogs is missing teeth and looks like a Waffle House waitress while the other one pees in a zig zag and eats rocks. She’s also fairly certain that both dogs eat poop, but she couldn’t imagine life without her “gifted” pups. During the show, you’ll see an adorable video of one of her rescue dogs competing in an agility course against a champion agility dog. Who will win? You’ll have to wait and see…but laughs are guaranteed.

Perhaps one of our favorite presenters of the night was Paula Abdul with an adorable rescue Dalmation named Nikki. Paula was a great sport when Nikki got spooked by the applauding audience, knocked her right off her feet, and pulled her across stage! (Much to the delight of Kathy Griffin, whose comedy act famously pokes fun at celebrity mishaps!)

And, one of the most touching moments of the night came when Betty White, a celebrity with unparalleled dedication to animal welfare and rescue advocacy, came to the stage. Though a teleprompter in the distance tapped out words for the 92-year old actress and philanthropist, she joked that she couldn’t see that far away and, instead, spoke from the heart.

Also appearing in the PAWsome event are famous rescue canines and winners of America’s Got Talent, The Olate Dogs, who give an exclusive performance honoring all rescue dogs in need of adoption, as well as appearances by some of the most famous viral video dogs from around the country, a heartwarming, tear-jerking moment honoring a dedicated rescue dog transporter, along with inspirational stories of real rescues, and tons of fun and games with surprise celebrity guests – all in an effort to raise awareness (and money) for rescue dogs around the country.

But, the very best part of the entire show is that every single dog you’ll see is available for adoption! Anyone who is watching the show tomorrow night that falls in love with one of the many dogs that were showcased can simply go to fox.com/causeforpaws and fill out an adoption application!

“If you fall in love with a dog during the event, you can go online and fill out a form to adopt that dog,” co-host Jane Lynch said.

Tune in on Thanksgiving night, 8/7C on FOX.

(Psst! Wanna be a star, too? Take home the celebrity “swag bag” given to Jane Lynch, Kristen Chenoweth, Betty White, David Arquette, and all the other celebs at FOX’s Cause for Paws! Enter our giveaway here!)

your show was great but the focus must be on spaying and neutering so that thousands of dogs will not be put down and the shelters overcrowding will be alleviated Work on education – bring in vets who will donate time you have so many resources but your focus must change EDUCATION AND PREVENTION ARE THE KEY and for the future of our beloved pets
