The votes are in… the Ugliest Dog in the World is Quasi Modo!

While it may not seem like an award anyone would want to win, The World’s Ugliest Dog Competition – now in it’s 25th year at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma, California – is a lighthearted, fun competition with a serious message:

All dogs are beautiful in their own way. All dogs deserve a home.

Many of the dogs competing are rescues, some are from puppy mills. All are healthy, happy, and loved by their families.

This year’s winner, Quasi Modo, is a Pit Bull/Dutch Shepherd mix who came all the way from Florida to compete. Born with a shortened spine, Quasi Modo may look different but he can run, play, and live life to the fullest.

Quasi Modo’s contest bio said, “I love to meet new people and teach them about diversity. I have become a great ambassador for teaching people about acceptance and tolerance for things that are different. You should never judge a book by its cover! Just because an animal or person looks different doesn’t mean they’re any less deserving of love. It’s OK to be different.”
