The U.S. Food & Drug Administration has issued a recall on certain packages of Dingo brand Chip Twists “Chicken in the Middle” dog chew treats manufactured by United Pet Group of Cincinnati, Ohio, due to possible contamination with Amantadine, an antiviral human drug not approved for use in animal food.
The recall includes 6-pack, 3.9 ounce bags with UPC code 615650300600 and a Best by Date 5/16/2017 AND 16-pack, 9.59 ounce bags with UPC code 615650990429 and Best by Dates 12/27/2015 & 5/16/2017.
Affected product was distributed to CA, IA, IL, MN, NY, OH, OK, PA, TX, VA, WA, and WI.
Because this is a Class III recall, the manufacturer may choose whether or not to issue an official press release as use of the product is not likely to cause adverse health consequences, according to the FDA.

Thank for your posting the recall! I’m confused because I can’t find this information on the FDA site. I don’t see this product listed as of October 1, 2015? Was there a retraction on the recall maybe? Or, am I missing it from your source? Thanks fda.gov/animalveterinary/safetyhealth/recallswithdrawals/

It was a class III recall, so the discretion is up to the manufacturer whether to make an official announcement. Apparently they chose not to. (GRR!)
