A Phoenix, Arizona police officer got quite the surprise when he was patrolling a neighborhood and encountered a pack of small dogs running in the street.
“I’m a dog owner, I’m also a huge animal lover in general particularly when it comes to dogs,” Lt. Van Dorn said. Concerned for the dogs’ safety, he stopped his patrol car in the street and honked the horn, hoping the dogs would get off the road.
Three of the small dogs ran off, but a 4th, a 10-pound beige and white Chihuahua, ran and hid in the undercarriage of the lieutenant’s cruiser and refused to come out – even after Lt. Dorn offered him a hot dog.
For about 20 to 30 minutes, the little dog refused to budge. Eventually, Maricopa County Animal Care & Control officials arrived on scene to help free the frightened pup.

The dog, who appears to be in good health, was not microchipped. He will be held for 72 hours before being placed for adoption.
