Police are, once again, seeking the public’s help in finding the person responsible for duct-taping a dog’s mouth closed and dumping him along a highway.

Long Island Police and the Suffolk County SPCA are hoping someone steps forward with information about a dog found abandoned along a highway, his mouth wrapped tightly with duct-tape.

The 2 to 3-year old German Shepherd was found by business owner Rob Farha. When Farha spotted the young male dog, he immediately took photos, then freed the dog from the tape that had left him unable to eat, drink, or pant.

Farha brought the dog inside to care for him. He told News12 the dog hasn’t made a noise. He’s very sweet, a good dog. “I can’t see what this dog could have done so bad, that someone thinks that they need to tape its mouth shut,” Farha explained.

The dog was picked up by the Babylon Animal Shelter, where he will be examined and checked for a microchip.

The SPCA is now offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case of animal cruelty. Officials say the duct tape will be sent to a crime lab to be checked for fingerprints.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Suffolk County SPCA confidentially at 631-382-7722.
