It’s almost Halloween! Ghosts, goblins, zombies, or slasher movies…everybody loves to watch scary movies this time of year. Well, here’s our little twist on the obligatory top horror movies list — all of these movies feature DOGS!
That’s right, they’re all spooky movies starring our furriest four-legged family members. So grab a blanket, cuddle up with your pup, pull your feet up onto the couch so the boogie monster doesn’t get your toes — and check out some of these creepy dog movies this Halloween!
Cujo (1983)
Synopsis: Based on Stephen King’s psychological thriller, Cujo, a friendly St. Bernard, contracts rabies and conducts a reign of terror on a small American town.
Fun Facts: The good-natured St. Bernard that played the famous killer dog was a 200 pound happy pup named Daddy. In addition to the main canine star, there were 4 more St. Bernard actors, a mechanical replica, and a man in a dog suit.
During filming, Daddy was such a happy boy that he’d often wag his tail during scenes where he was supposed to be scary and mean. He had so much fun on set that at one point, his handlers had to tie his tail down to his leg to keep it from wagging so much! Film editors missed one particular scene where Cujo is filmed from behind, ready to attack, but you can see his tail wagging enthusiastically.
The Breed (2006)
Synopsis: A group of five college kids are forced to match wits with unwelcoming residents when they fly to a “deserted” island for a party weekend. As it turns out, the island used to house a dog training facility that had been shut down after a rabies outbreak, or so the friends are told…
Man’s Best Friend (1993)
Synospsis: A genetically mutated dog is stolen from the lab of mad scientist Dr. Jarret by news reporter/animal rights advocate Lori Tanner, who conceals it from the police in her home. The dog, Max, endowed with intelligence and other special abilities, is at first lovable, but also proves to be a ferocious, unstoppable killer.
Check out the original movie trailer for this creepy thriller!
Fun Fact: The dog used to portray the DNA-altered dog is a Tibetan mastiff!

I am not a fan of creepy movies and I sure can’t take it when dogs are the villain when in truth they’re just the sweetest.
