When David de Muelles, a guide for Northstar Tours, led a group of tourists through Manitoba, Canada, he spotted a polar bear near a famous Eskimo dog sanctuary in the area and stopped the bus to get a better look. That’s when he noticed the polar bear wasn’t alone – and the extraordinary moment was all caught on tape!
“This big bear had just woken up from a cat nap and stopped right by the dog,” de Muelles told ABC News. “The bear then just started gracefully petting the dog like a human.”
“It was incredible to see such a powerful animal be so friendly with such a small dog. Normally, these animals are known as killers,” de Muelles added. Witnessing such a once-in-a-lifetime exchange even brought one of the tourists to tears.
