Uggie the Superstar Jack Russell Terrier has been taking the entertainment world by storm recently. He starred in two recent major motion pictures, “The Artist” and “Water for Elephants”, and has been nominated for the Golden Collar Award in both. He has also had numerous guest shots on television shows both in the US and abroad. Check out how busy Uggie the Superstar Jack Russell Terrier has been, according to the following article on the metro.co.uk website:

The talented pouch has been wowing audiences with his catalogue of tricks in the French movie and now he is up for a gong at the awards bash which honours canine in films.

Uggie has been nominated for two prizes – one for his role in The Artist and another for his part in romantic drama Water For Elephants, which starred Robert Pattinson.

The nine-year-old Jack Russell Terrier will be battling it out with Cosmo from Beginners, Denver from 50/50 and Hummer from Young Adult.

Yesterday, he ‘read’ the nominations with his The Artist co-star Penelope Ann Miller.

Miller said: ‘I think he deserves all the accolades that he’s getting.’

Meahile, Simon Cowell is reportedly ‘obsessed’ with Uggie and is keen to sign the dog.

The Daily Mirror reports that Cowell has called up Uggie’s trainer Omar Von Muller to make informal enquiries.

A source said: ‘He is Simon’s dream dog – he has longed for someone like Uggie to take to the stage on Britain’s Got Talent. His people have been in touch with Uggie’s owner. He’s obsessed.’

Uggie was a big hit at the Golden Globe Awards last weekend where he played dead as the cast of The Artist including director Michel Hazanavicius and actor Jean Dujardin picked up their gong for Best Picture.

Lest you think he’s just a flash in the pan, take a look at what he did recently on the Ellen Degeneres show:

He is so popular that even Simon Cowell is trying to sign him for the talent show “Britain’s Got Talent”. I’m sure other contestants won’t be thrilled with the idea of competing with a dog!

Have you ever noticed that many of the “big name” movie star dogs seem to be Terriers, and Jack Russells in particular? I have to wonder if it’s because they’re easier to train, or have more innate talent for this kind of thing, or they’re just natural “hams”. Whatever the case, with two major motion pictures to his credit, and this kind of talent, I’d say Uggie the Superstar Jack Russell Terrier is the real deal.

I’d like to know what Uggie gets paid, wouldn’t you?
