While it’s customary for your date to match your prom attire, one Florida teen was totally twinning when she made a matching prom dress for her dog!
“I’m a really big pet lover,” 18-year-old Brenda Sierra of Tampa told InsideEdition.com. “I try to share every moment with her so I wanted to bring her with me to take pictures for prom. I wanted her to get dressed up and I had the extra fabric, so I made the dress for her.”
With extra fabric she’d saved from her own gown, scissors, a glue gun, and a couple hours of work, Sierra fashioned a tiny replica of her own custom gown for her rescue pup, a Dachshund named Sasha.
Sierra adopted Sasha 2-years ago during an impromptu visit to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. While they only intended to stop by for a visit to play with the puppies, Sierra and Sasha’s bond was instant. She adopted the pup and the pair have been inseparable ever since.
Naturally, Sierra – who takes her dog with her everywhere she can – wanted her furriest family member to be a part of the biggest moments in her life, including prom, of course! So, when she had her own prom dress altered, she knew right away what she would do with the leftover fabric.
When she posed for prom pics, Sasha was by her side in her matching prom dress, looking fabulous in the off-the-shoulder frock. Sierra posted the photos to Twitter where they quickly went viral.

“I am super glad I made Sasha the dress because it’s something I’ve wanted to do for those big moments in my life,” the dog-loving teen added.
Her next big moment? Graduation! Sierra plans to make a matching cap and gown for Sasha and hopes her four-legged best friend can join her at the ceremony this summer.
