More than 2 weeks after chewing through her crate and escaping across the tarmac and into a wooded area bordering the Tampa airport, Brady the missing dog has been found!
Four-year-old hound-mix, Brady was scheduled for a Delta Airlines flight out of Tampa to join her family who’d recently relocated to Bermuda. Instead, the dog chewed through the metal bars of her crate and escaped.
She was spotted running across the tarmac before disappearing into a wooded area bordering the airport. Owner William Gideon recently accepted a job in Bermuda, where he and his family relocated. Bringing Brady to the island was handled by a company that specializes in transporting pets. Everything went smoothly until Brady arrived in Tampa where she chewed through her crate and disappeared.
After an exhaustive search that included tracking dogs, hundreds of volunteers, and multiple traps set up in the vicinity of the airport, Brady was finally found – more than two weeks after vanishing into the woods.
The family said Brady was caught in one of the traps setup on Tampa airport property, leading the family to believe their beloved pup never left the area, despite reported sightings many miles away.
Over the past two weeks, Brady has lost about 16-pounds, is dehydrated, and suffering from numerous bug bites. She’ll face extensive surgery to treat wounds to her mouth and face as a result of chewing through her crate. She is being treated at BluePearl Veterinary Partners hospital in Tampa. But, is expected to make a full recovery and has already been reunited with her family.
