Celebrating birthdays and important anniversaries is a long-time tradition for families. And, since dogs are, without a doubt, a member of the family, celebrating a birthday, ‘gotcha day,’ or adoption anniversary isn’t all that far-fetched!
While you can find pre-made dog birthday cakes, birthday treats, and cake mixes for dogs, it’s not difficult to make your own tasty, safe, and drool-worthy celebration cake at home. Why not make your dog’s birthday extra-special with one of these homemade doggie birthday cakes that your pooch will be begging for?
Carrot and Carob Cake
You’ll need:
1 cup flour
1 cup shredded carrots
½ cup carob chips
⅓ cup butter, softened
¼ cup coconut oil
½ tsp. Vanilla
¼ tsp. Baking soda
2 eggs

Begin by mixing flour and baking soda together in a large mixing bowl. In a separate bowl, cream the butter, eggs, oil, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in shredded carrots and carob chips. Combine both mixtures until a soft, smooth batter is formed. Pour the batter into a non-stick baking pan or cupcake tin, and place in a preheated oven at 350°F for approximately 35 minutes. Allow to cool completely before frosting.
Optional carob frosting: Combine the following ingredients and blend until smooth and creamy: 12 oz. of softened cream cheese, 3 tsp. of carob powder, 1 tsp. of vanilla, and 1 tsp. honey.
After the cake is frosted, sprinkle with shredded carrots for a fun, dog-safe confetti look!
