A New Jersey Pug was arrested after evading her owners and trespassing across Cape May backyards over the weekend.
Cape May Police Patrolman Michael LeSage responded to a call about the suspicious canine character when she was spotted trespassing in the backyard of a neighbor’s home.
LeSage said that after putting an end to the canine’s crime spree, the Pug tried to hop in the back of his police car, “but her short little legs couldn’t make it into the car, so I had to lift her up.”
Naturally, the Pug took advantage of her right to remain silent, leading police to reach out to the public for help:
It took a few hours before the Pug was identified as Bean, a Pug visiting Cape May with her family from Baltimore, Maryland.
Bean’s family arrived at the station and posted bail, ending the Pug’s jail stint.
Bean’s owner said the Pug was safely back at home, resting comfortably after her crime spree. Must be ruff!
