When a Burger King restaurant learned why one of their customers came in for a plain burger, they offered a terminally ill dog free cheeseburgers for the rest of his life.
Lynn Morris and her family celebrated their Boxer/Lab-mix’s 10th birthday last March. Sadly, they soon learned it could be his last. Cody was diagnosed with an aggressive bone cancer and given only a few more months to live.
Determined to make the most of whatever time Cody has left, Lynn said, “I thought, ‘If I were a dog, what would be on my bucket list?'”
Lynn and her family decided to treat Cody to his favorite meal every day – cheeseburgers!
Before the cancer diagnosis, the family were very careful about Cody’s diet, but began offering him a plain cheeseburger each day to both comfort him and help him take his many medications.
“We wanted to thank him for being such a good boy,” Lynn told WTOL.
Most days, they made the burgers at home, but during a visit to their local Burger King fast food restaurant chain in Toledo, Ohio, an employee learned why the plain cheeseburger was such an important order. She quickly went to find the restaurant manager and explained the unusual request.
The manager immediately offered Cody free Burger King cheeseburgers from their location every day for the rest of his life.
“I can’t explain how much that means to us, and my family and I are beyond appreciative,” Lynn’s son Alec Karcher wrote in a Tweet to Burger King corporate, adding the employees at the location are “the best around.”
