Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person responsible for the death of a dog found shot with an arrow through his neck.

Police in Houston, Texas are hoping someone will step forward with information about the horrific abuse of a dog that ultimately led to his death.

Archer, a 24-pound dog, wandered onto the front porch of a woman’s northeast Houston home on Sunday. Still alive, but seriously injured, Archer was transported to a nearby emergency veterinarian and to Texas A&M where, despite their efforts to save him, he died shortly after due to injuries sustained when he was shot through the neck with a high-powered fiberglass arrow.

X-rays of Archer’s body showed the arrow entered through his neck and penetrated his diaphragm, abdomen and liver.

Crime Stoppers and the Harris County Animal Cruelty Taskforce held a press conference Wednesday to ask for the public’s help in finding the person responsible for Archer’s death.

They are offering a $7,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person that shot the dog. Anyone with information about the case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
