After he was rescued from the streets of Romania and his owner died, the two-year-old crossbreed dog, Duke, is patiently waiting to be adopted.
Having problems coping with meeting new people, Duke was taken to the RSPCA’s York, Harrogate & District Branch by the family of his previous owner. Mandy Broadhead, from the center, said: “Duke is such a sweet little chap but he can be complex. He’s such a friendly, affectionate and loving lad once he knows you but he’s incredibly anxious around strangers. His new home will need to have few visitors as Duke finds it really difficult when new people come into the home.”
In the last 10 months, Duke has only had one application. Unfortunately, he struggled to connect with the rest of the family and it did not work out. After taking him in, RSPCA’s behaviorists are now helping the dog boost his confidence in unfamiliar situations.
Duke is looking for a home with no other pets and where he can be left for short periods of time in an adult-only environment.
