A blind pet dog from Australia’s Gold Coast, allegedly stolen and driven 300km away from home, finally gets reunited with its family on July 7.

Bowie, a Gold Coast family’s blind, four-year-old Australian Shepherd, reportedly went missing on Wednesday, July 5.

According to ABC News, Bowie’s owner, Luke Durman and 10-year-old son Leo returned to their home, and found it ransacked with their car and pet dog missing.

Luckily, two days after the incident, Bowie was found safe in Nambucca Heads, New South Wales (NSW), 300 kilometers away from his home.

Initial investigations by the Queensland Police found that the group that broke into the Durman family’s home left the scene using the family’s car, bearing Queensland registration 021FO8.

Queensland Police shared CCTV footage of the man at a service station in New South Wales. In the footage, you can see Bowie sitting in the passenger seat of the stolen vehicle.

Queensland Police then made a public appeal on July 6 to help find Bowie and return him home.

“Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen or know this man, or may have seen Bowie in the Northern New South Wales area to come forward,” wrote the Queensland Police in a post.

And finally on July 7, Bowie was found after NSW police pulled over the stolen car at Nabucca Heads.

In a Facebook post, the Queensland Police called the rescue a “Paw-fect result with cross border relation” with NSW police.

Durman and his son then immediately drove four hours to be reunited with their beloved dog, as per the Daily Mail report.

Talking to 7NEWS, Durman said “Once we realized Bowie was gone, the cars and everything was immaterial to that’. The focus was, we just wanted Bowie back.”

After returning home, Bowie went to the vet to get checked, and was fortunately, healthy and fit.

Meanwhile, the man accused of stealing Bowie, Mr Cardozo, has been charged with receiving, disposing of or possessing stolen property valued at more than $15,000 outside the state, ABC News reports.

The Queensland Police confirmed that once the man’s court proceedings in NSW concludes, they will apply to have him extradited to Queensland.
