Bunny, a two-year-old rescue dog from Mexico, got her very own custom dog wheelchairs from Mercedes Benz last month.
Mercedes Benz, in partnership with Eddie’s Wheels, a company that customizes wheelchairs for pets, gifted Bunny the wheelchair she rightfully deserved.
Bunny was rescued by The Animal Pad, a dog rescue in San Diego, with partnership with Los Adoptables and keepingfinn in Mexico back in April.
According to The Animal Pad, they found Bunny in a precarious situation – she had a swollen face due to dog bites, was covered in ticks and maggots, and her hind legs were not working due to being run over by a car.
The dog rescue revealed in a video, “When we first showed up, the dog’s owner was playing soccer with his buddy all while his dog was wasting away on the ground no more than 10 feet away.”
Bunny was brought to the vet for a check up. And then later on, The Animal Pad crossed the border to the US with Bunny.
Bunny underwent surgery to get her hind legs amputated. Thankfully, the surgery was a major success and The Animal Pad shared, “5 days post surgery, here she is, hippity-hoppity right into her brand new life.”
Henry Friedman, the animal rescuer behind the keepingfinn account on Instagram, also shared further updates on Bunny’s road to recovery.
One Instagram user wrote a comment on Friedman’s update video saying, “This dog deserves the Mercedes Benz of wheelchairs! ❤️”
Friedman said, “I thought it was a funny comment, and of course, Bunny does deserve the absolute best. So I actually reached out to Mercedes Benz.”
After reaching out to Mercedes Benz, Friedman shared Bunny’s story to them and pitched the idea of creating a special wheelchair for Bunny.
“Not only did they freaking love it, they also agreed to hook Bunny up with a fresh set of wheels,” Friedman continued.
And on July, Bunny was welcomed inside the Mercedes Venz office with his new and customized wheels labelled with “Bunny’s Benz”.
To say that Bunny loved it was an understatement! In a video, you can see Bunny running around and exploring the world with her new wheels.
In a ‘before and after’ post, Friedman shared the incredible journey Bunny had gone through. He wrote in the caption, “We often meet dogs on the worst day of their life. When we found Bunny, we honestly weren’t sure she would survive the night. But Bunny kept fighting.”
Mercedes Venz commended Bunny and left a comment on the post saying, “Bunny was always worthy! A true fighter.”
