Is that a puppy in your pants, or are you just happy to see me? Unfortunately, this time it’s a puppy. A nine-week old, one pound Pomeranian to be exact.

This dognapping tale is one you have to see to believe. Two men planned to rob an Elmont, New York pet store; one causing a distraction while the other took the loot. In the surveillance video below, watch as the thief first tries to access the cash register drawer before turning his attention to the $1,000 puppy in the window.

The puppy thief’s accomplice distracted a pet shop employee in the rear of the store by inquiring about a pug puppy for sale, while the dognapper got away with the tiny pup.

Zoo-Rama Pets‘ owner, Harsha Perera, is asking anyone with information or tips to contact Elmont Police.
