Selecting the best dog food for your particular breed can be a confusing chore. With the enormous selection of foods available how are we supposed to know which one is best for our dog? With this in mind let’s take a look at the dry vs. wet vs. natural dog food debate and learn how to choose the right food for your dog. This will be part one of a three part series comparing these different dog foods. We will go over some basic facts about dog foods in this part’
Like most people we naturally assume expensive products are higher quality than their cheaper versions and in many instances this is correct, but does this also apply to dog foods? Not necessarily. An expensive all-organic or holistic food will be very expensive but it may not be the proper choice for your dog. Many variables play into this but the fact is a cheaper dog food might be what your dog prefers and thrives on, so do not simply judge by the price of the dog food when making your decision.
What we need to concentrate on is the ingredients of the dry vs. wet vs. natural dog food battle as they pertain to our breed, how old the dog is, if they have any medical conditions, etc. The FDA is the governing body ensuring all dog foods sold in America are safe and have accurate labels printed on the bag, can, etc. The Association of American Feed Control Officials set the guidelines for protein levels, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, and other nutrients the dog food must provide. So the first place to start is by reading the listed ingredients on the dog food package.
In part 2 of the dry vs. wet vs. natural dog food debate we will cover selecting the best type and go into more depth concerning how to make the best decision for your dog according to their age and physical condition.

This is great because of your sentence: “Many variables play into this but the fact is a cheaper dog food might be what your dog prefers and thrives on, so do not simply judge by the price of the dog food when making your decision.”
If it’s all about the dog, then give him what you can or what he wants and be sure to supplement with a good Liquid Dog Vitamin. It will truly make all the difference.
