If you guessed Clifford the Big Red Dog, you were right!

Famous Dogs

Clifford the Big Red Dog began as a children’s book by Norman Bridwell published in 1963 before being adapted to television and film. Bridwell began his career as a cartoonist with hopes of becoming a children’s book illustrator. Having been rejected by more than a dozen publishers, an editor at Harper & Row made the offhand suggestion that he turn one of his illustrations into a story, pointing to a sketch he’d drawn of an infant sitting next to a horse-sized Bloodhound… and Clifford was born.

Fun Fact: a live-action Clifford the Big Red Dog film has been in development for a couple of years! In the film, Clifford’s character will be animated while the other actors perform live.
