If you guessed Hooch, you’re right!
While three different Dogue de Bordeaux’s were used in the film, it’s main star was Barry, a wrinkle-faced, drooling goof of a dog who, in real life lived to be an impressive 14 years old!
Fun Fact: Yes, the French Mastiffs are known to drool quite a bit, but not quite as excessively as Hooch did in the film. To help add to the comedy (and to Tom Hanks’ character, Turner’s frustration) filmmakers used egg whites to enhance the doggy’s drool factor.
Now, can you guess who this famous movie dog is?
A hero among dogs, and especially to his film family, this old dog got his name from the color of his fur and the dialect of his farmer family.

My favorite famous doggy was Toto. My 9 year old Yorkie Pomeranian named Puppy looks just like Toto.
