Celebrate Your Dog’s Birthday with These Easy-Peasy Dog Cake Recipes!

Celebrating birthdays and important anniversaries is a long-time tradition for families. And, since dogs are, without a doubt, a member of the family, celebrating a birthday, ‘gotcha day,’ or adoption anniversary isn’t all that far-fetched!

Dog Cake Recipes

While you can find pre-made dog birthday cakes, birthday treats, and cake mixes for dogs, it’s not difficult to make your own tasty, safe, and drool-worthy celebration cake at home. Why not make your dog’s birthday extra-special with one of these homemade doggie birthday cakes that your pooch will be begging for?

 Carrot and Carob Cake

You’ll need:
1 cup flour
1 cup shredded carrots
½ cup carob chips
⅓ cup butter, softened
¼ cup coconut oil
½ tsp. Vanilla
¼ tsp. Baking soda
2 eggs

Directions:
Begin by mixing flour and baking soda together in a large mixing bowl. In a separate bowl, cream the butter, eggs, oil, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in shredded carrots and carob chips. Combine both mixtures until a soft, smooth batter is formed. Pour the batter into a non-stick baking pan or cupcake tin, and place in a preheated oven at 350°F for approximately 35 minutes. Allow to cool completely before frosting.

Optional carob frosting: Combine the following ingredients and blend until smooth and creamy: 12 oz. of softened cream cheese, 3 tsp. of carob powder, 1 tsp. of vanilla, and 1 tsp. honey.

After the cake is frosted, sprinkle with shredded carrots for a fun, dog-safe confetti look!

Dog Cake Recipes

Banana and Ginger Cake

You’ll need:
2 cups ripe bananas, mashed
2 cups flour
¾ cup water
½ cup of butter, softened
3 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder,
2 tsp. Cinnamon
1 tsp. of ginger paste.

Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, beat the mashed bananas and softened butter together until the mixture becomes soft and creamy. Add eggs, water, and ginger paste and continue beating well. Stir in flour, baking powder, and cinnamon and mix until smooth. Pour in the batter into a non-stick baking dish or cupcake tin, in a preheated oven at 350°F for approximately 35 minutes. Allow to cool completely before frosting.

Optional banana frosting: Combine the following ingredients and blend until smooth and creamy: 2 cups of mashed banana, 3 tbsp. of flour, 1 tbsp. of softened butter, and 1 tsp. of vanilla.

Once your cake is frosted, top with crunchy banana chips for added flavor and flair!

Dog Cake Recipes

Peanut Butter Cake

You’ll need:
1 cup flour
1 cup shredded carrots
½ cup honey
¼ cup of coconut oil
¼ cup peanut butter
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. of vanilla.

Directions:
Start by mixing flour and baking soda in a large mixing bowl, then stir in the remaining ingredients. Mix well until the batter becomes smooth and free of lumps.  Pour in the batter into a non-stick baking dish or cupcake tin, in a preheated oven at 350°F for approximately 35 minutes. Allow to cool completely before frosting.

Easy peanut butter frosting: Combine the following ingredients, and then mix until smooth and creamy: 2 cups of peanut butter, 3 tbsp. of flour, 1 tsp. of vanilla, and 1 tsp. of honey.

When baking your own dog-safe birthday cake at home, feel free to get creative! Decorate with dog treats, make your own rainbow sprinkles using finely diced fresh veggies, or use a bone-shaped baking pan. Just have fun with it!

If you’re worried about grains or dietary restrictions, all of these recipes can be made grain-free by replacing the flour with garbanzo flour, coconut flour, or another alternative flour substitute instead.
