Thousands of very good dogs (and their people) piled into NYC’s Tompkins Square Park on Saturday to strut their stuff and show off their most creative dog costumes in the park’s 27th annual Halloween Dog Parade!
Every year, New York City’s first dog park, Tompkins Square, becomes the stage for the largest dog costume contest in the country. Donning some of the cutest and most creative dog costumes you’ve ever seen, thousands of dogs show up to compete for thousands in prizes.
Check out some of the most creative, cutest, and incredible dog costumes from this year’s big event. You’ll recognize many of the classics, some pop-culture favorites, lots of humor, many dogs dressed as NYC landmarks, and even some costumes making a social or political statement.
Best in Show this year went to Cruz the Frenchie with an elaborate costume as a New York City double-decker sightseeing bus packed with French tourists!
The enchanting event was all in the name of fun – and fundraising – in addition to collecting hurricane relief supplies at the park entrance, organizers urged spectators to donate to The Sato Project, a rescue organization dedicated to helping lost, stray, and displaced dogs in Puerto Rico.
