The family of a missing dog were forced to take down their missing dog signs after state officials determined the signs were illegal.

Missing Dog Signs

Ace, a 5-year old yellow Labrador went missing in Ocean View, Delaware on September 22. To spread the word in hopes of bringing him back home, the family put up missing dog signs around Ocean View.

But, after the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) reportedly received a complaint about the signs, they determined they were illegal and forced the family to take them down. WBOC explained that according to state law, any signs approximately 10 feet from the edge of the pavement are not allowed with the exception of campaign signs which are allowed 30 days before and after an election date.

DelDOT did, however, waive the standard $25-per-sign fine for heartbroken family desperately hoping to find their dog.

Ace’s owner, Nicole Peterdozzi said, “It was upsetting but [we’ll] do something else bigger better and brighter so we’ll just keep getting the word out with new signs and keep going.”

A Keller Williams Realty in the area gave up a portion of their 7 electronic billboard ads to help in the search for Ace.

“Anyone driving on route 26 or 113 is going to see those in large print at stop signs, traffic lights, where ever they’re at, they’re gonna see the sign for Ace,” said realtor Jay Lesko.

The family is offering a $6,000 reward for the return of their beloved pup. Ace is a 5-year old un-neutered male, Yellow Labrador. He was last seen in Ocean View, Delaware on September 22. Anyone with information about Ace’s whereabouts is urged to call George at 302-218-1577, or Nicole at 302-542-8344.

If signs are illegal, Why are there 1,000s of real estate signs advertising new home sales on every corner?

Signs are illegal in Delaware. Yet another reason to never visit.
