Although police and Humane Society authorities continue searching for the person responsible, Baron, an 8-year old Rottweiler found brutally maimed in Detroit is finally living the good life he deserves in a new home with a family that promises to love him forever!
The Michigan Humane society announced the great news on Facebook:
A citizen spotted the injured Rottweiler with his ears and nose cut off in January of this year and alerted officials. A rescue team found the dog and rushed him to a veterinarian to be treated.
Besides “viciously” removing the Rottweiler’s nose and ears, someone also apparently lacerated his tail and back legs, Humane Society officials said. Surgeons with the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine donated their time and expertise to reconstruct Baron’s nose. His nasal passage is now covered and protected and they were also able to fix his tail.
Investigators continue seeking information about the dog, his owners, or who committed the heinous abuse. A reward of $40,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction of Baron’s abuser.
“It appears that someone purposely maimed this poor dog, which has caused it a great deal of suffering,” said Mark Ramos, one of MHS’ lead cruelty investigators. “This kind of cruelty is unacceptable. We need to be a voice for these animals and as a community we need to speak through our strong actions to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
Anyone with information about the dog, his owners, or this incident is asked to contact the Michigan Humane Society Cruelty Investigation Department at (313) 872-3401.
