We all know that travelling with our furry friends is never easy. But that is all about to change as the dog brand BARK announces the launch of a new airline designed to cater to every dog’s travel needs — BARK air.
BARK, a dog brand known for their dog toys, treats, and gifts, announces their partnership with a jet charter company to launch their new dog service on Thursday, April 11.
“BARK Air is the world’s first air travel experience designed specifically for dogs first, and their human companions second, enabling them to travel together comfortably and conveniently.”
So, how does it all work? Well, according to BARK Air, upon booking, hoomans will be contacted so they can provide their pooch’s information and their travel plans.
On the travel day, there will be no need for crates and TSA checkpoints. The hoomans and their pooches are asked to arrive at the airport 45-minutes to an hour before the flight for a simple and dog-friendly check-in process.
The cabin will be prepared to make sure the flight will be as calm and stress-free as possible for the dogs.
According to BARK Air’s website, “The cabin will be prepped with calming aids such as: pheromone, music, warm lavender scented refreshment towels, and other comforts to help each dog feel settled.”
Their concierge will also provide a ‘just in case’ bag filled with calming treats, leashes, poop bags, and more! The dogs will also be provided with BARK-branded treats and surprises, on top of the dogs’ beverage of choice.
According to BARK, they recognize the numerous challenges of dog travel. On their website, they also revealed that they’ve spent years talking to airlines to make flying with dogs accessible, “and because of their resistance, we decided to build the solution ourselves.”
They also said, “BARK Air presents a more fun – and humane – option for dogs traveling with their two-legged human companions.”
Matt Meeker, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at BARK said, “We believe this initiative will elevate awareness of our brand’s mission and values, introduce more dog lovers to the BARK family, and help enrich the lives of dogs and their people around the world.”
Currently, BARK Air offers one way and round trip flights that are limited to three destinations: London via Stansted Airport (STN), New York via Westchester County Airport (HPN), and Los Angeles via Van Nuys Airport (VNY).
Premium flights starts at $6000 and are now available for booking on BARK Air’s website, with their first flight taking off from New York on Thursday, May 23.

Yes, we need this but OMG the cost is not realistic for most people. Would love flights from Buffalo to Florida (Orlando area) Hopefully the costs will come down as this is a VERY NEEDED REALITY. Do you know how many people drive to FL because they have pets – something to think about Bark Airlines and all the other airlines out there who want larger pets in cargo and smaller pets in carriers only. Here’s hoping this become a reality soon for us!

My dog and I live in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon Mexico, we are very excited and we hope to be able to travel on Bark Air very soon. I think that the concept of this new airline is unique and is something that we pet parents have been waiting for a long time and although at the moment the costs are excessive we hope that over time and as destinations are added these costs will drop until they are accessible to everyone. On behalf of my dog and I, I thank Bark for thinking about our pets, their well-being and their comfort and I wish them good luck on their inaugural flight and the best for this airline that is about to take off.
Greetings from Monterrey Mexico
