A McIntosh County, Georgia shelter is hoping to find the person responsible after a mama dog was found dragging a crate full of her puppies down a dirt road.
McIntosh County Animal Services and additional donors are offering a $1325.00 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who placed four young puppies inside a wire crate, tied the crate to their mother, and abandoned the canine family on a dirt road.
“We know there is evil in this world and this just further proves that!” the shelter wrote on Facebook. “This poor mama dog watched as someone put her four young puppies into a wire crate and then tied a blue belt around her collar and then tied the belt to this crate and left them down a dirt road!!!”
Thankfully, a father and son were driving nearby and found the mama dog dragging her pups behind her. They brought the furry family to MCAS where they were fed, vaccinated, and treated for fleas.
Pilots and Paws flew the mama dog, named Palmer by her rescuers, and her pups to Virginia, where they’ll be cared for by the Fancy Cats & Dogs Rescue Team until they’re ready to be adopted into loving homes. The rescue has already received multiple applications to adopt the “Georgia cage pups.”
MCAS reminded potential adopters that there are plenty of other pets in need of loving homes, too.
“We at MCAS want to say thank you to all who showed interest in our mama and her babies, even tho they are going to a rescue and they have several applications coming in. We want to say how this was such a sad story that will have a happy ending! There are hundreds of dogs in shelters, rescues with sad stories, so if you don’t get a “famous” pup or dog, don’t let that stop you from saving another life. To you they are your number one fan and love you regardless of your social status, or air time, so let’s give that back in return to a homeless pet!!”
