It’s a tragedy that all dog owners must eventually face – the devastating end of the life of a beloved companion. Such was the case for Miley Cyrus, singer, actress, and outspoken animal advocate yesterday when her sweet angel Yorkie, Lila passed away.
Miley announced the news to fans and followers on Tuesday. “For everyone asking … I have never been so hurt in my life,” she wrote.”My heart has never been so broken….. Lila my sweet baby girl has passed away.”
Lila was treated for an unknown illness at an animal emergency room last October. It’s possible that her previous illness and death are connected, though it hasn’t been confirmed. Although Miley isn’t sharing the cause of death, the pain we can all feel for her is just the same.
Lila joined the Cyrus family in 2011, and kick-started Miley’s dog rescue efforts. Since bringing Lila into the family, Miley and fiance Liam Hemsworth have also rescued Ziggy, FLoyd, Mary Jane, and Happy, and encouraged thousands more to do the same.
Earlier on Tuesday morning, Miley Tweeted, “Can’t think of one good reason to get out of bed today,” which prompted a barrage of questioning fans until she finally made the announcement.
Whatever the cause of little Lila’s death, we share the pain that Miley and her family must be feeling. Only time can heal the wounds left by the death of a special friend.
Rest in peace, sweet little Lila.

God lets us have them just for a while, then He trusts us to let them go, with love and dignity. SO sorry for your loss.

Very sorry for your loss Miley! I can certainly feel your pain as I am dealing with the sad and heart breaking anticipation of losing my four legged friend of 15 1/2 years, in just a few days. It’s the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life! 🙁 Much love to you!
