When a 4-year old Labrador went missing from her Kansas home, she turned up a week later—57-miles away, on the Missouri front porch of the home she’d lived in two years prior.

When Britney Michael arrived home from work last week, she pulled into the driveway of the Lawson, Missouri home she and husband, Colton, purchased in 2018. But this time, there was an unknown dog hanging out—and looking very comfortable—on the couples’ front porch.

The yellow Lab wasn’t wearing a collar, but was too well-groomed to be a stray. But, she had no intention of leaving their front porch. So, the couple earned her trust and brought her to a nearby veterinarian to be scanned for a microchip.

Thankfully, the dog was chipped and turned out to be registered to a name the couple recognized. Four-year old Cleo’s family had sold their home to the Michaels two years ago before moving to Olathe, Kansas.

They found the previous homeowner on Facebook and saw they’d posted that Cleo was missing a week earlier.

Somehow Cleo had gotten lost in Olathe, Kansas and found her way over 57-miles, across state lines, busy highways, and a river before settling in on her old front porch in Lawson, Missouri.

No matter how she made the trip, Cleo’s owner is just happy she’s back home. “It just feels really good to be reunited with her,” Drew, Cleo’s owner, told KMBC. “Really, she’s everything to us.”
