According to the New Jersey State Police, troopers responded to a report from a home in Buena Vista Township that their 4-year-old boy and black Labrador were missing.

Upon arriving at the house, police were told that the boy and the dog had wandered away from their house and no one has found them yet.

The two quickly ran to the child’s location, which was, according to the police, was “nearly a half mile from his house.”

New Jersey State Police posted a body camera video of the dramatic reunion on Facebook, which instantly became viral.

People quickly noticed the dog that was by the crying child’s side during the rescue, and pointed out his role in the safe outcome of the incident.

One commenter wrote, “That’s a good dog not leaving his side.” And another one said, “Give this dog an award! What a good boy or girl! I am so glad they are safe!”

New Jersey State Police thanked their troopers’ and the child’s mother quick response and said, “The terrified child was safely located and in good health.”
