When animal lover and Imgur user Nick Radford, found a squirrel, so young his eyes were not yet open, freezing and barely moving, he took the opportunity to rescue the little fella. You’ll be amazed by what happened as the baby squirrel recovered…

This is how Radford found the tiny baby squirrel, freezing cold and barely moving:

He gently placed the baby in his warm car, nestled in a makeshift nest of hoodie and cup holder:

Once at home, Radford fashioned a temporary home for the little guy in a bathroom sink, complete with a heating pad, nesting material, and a tiny cave to sleep in:

Squirrel4

He hand fed him through a tiny, squirrel-sized bottle:

And introduced him to his new “parents”:

Squirrel6

They all became fast friends!

Squirrel7

You might even say, the tiny squirrel became leader of the pack!

Squirrel8

From freezing in the cold, to leader of the pack, to king of the internet!

My dog would have ripped it apart! What nice dogs he has. I wonder what was in the bottle? Couldn’t be milk?

Probably something mixed specifically for them. I’ve made formula for a baby mouse and two orphaned premie pigs. You just have to find a recipe. I don’t remember the mouse one (he didn’t make it past a week), but the pig one involved baby formula and molasses. We moved on the oatmeal and dissolved rabbit pellets mixed with homemade pig formula and had to cross cut the nipples on the bottle for the thicker stuff to go through. More than you wanted to know right?

squirrels don’t have rabies, however they can get infected by rabies but the chances are slim as long as they don’t get exposed to rabies infected mammals.
