Few things are more heartbreaking than a young puppy, alone and confused, waiting patiently for the family that is clearly never returning.
Such was the case on Monday when an animal control officer responded to a call about an abandoned dog along a Mississippi roadside.
Brookhaven, Mississippi Police Department’s animal control officer, Sharon Norton got a message Monday morning about an abandoned dog along a Lincoln County roadside. When she arrived, she found a young puppy, dumped along with an armchair, a mattress, and a television.
The puppy was very thin, very hungry, and apparently afraid to leave the comfort of the armchair in search for food, perhaps waiting for his family to return for him.
“To the person that dumped this chair, your puppy was waiting for you to come back, slowly starving to death because it was afraid to leave the chair to find food. Shame on you for doing this to this puppy… but one day Karma will meet up with you,” Norton said in a Facebook post.
The officer took the puppy to a local shelter where he’ll be cared for until he’s ready to be placed for adoption. Anyone with information about the puppy or who abandoned him is encouraged to contact the Brookhaven Police.

The adults in this family should be required to sit in this chair in the hot sun
Until they dehydrate, starve and be on the brink of death.
Then be required to work at the local animal shelter for the rest of their lives.
