Following a recall by Sunshine Mills, Inc., Harris Teeter announced it has removed Abound Chicken & Brown Rice Dog Food due to the potential that it may contain excess Vitamin D, which may cause renal failure.
The following products are included in this recall:
- Abound Chicken & Brown Rice Dog Food, 4lb, UPC 0001111083556
- Abound Chicken & Brown Rice Dog Food, 14lb, UPC 0001111083573
Harris Teeter has removed all affected product from its shelves and urges customers to return the product to their local store for a full refund.
Customers should stop feeding the products listed above. Dogs ingesting elevated levels of Vitamin D may exhibit symptoms such as vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and weight loss. Vitamin D, when consumed at very high levels, can lead to serious health issues in dogs including renal dysfunction. Customers with dogs who have consumed any of the products listed above and are exhibiting any of these symptoms, should contact their veterinarian.
