No recall is too small to mention when our furbabies are involved! Especially this one, which has resulted in the death of one beloved pet.
According to a report, released by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), “The heated mats have poor wiring and construction, posing a fire and electrical shock hazard to consumers.”
World Class Inc. has issued a recall of about 25 Indoor Pet Heating Comfort Pads because they pose a fire and electrical shock hazard to consumers. The company has received two reports of mats catching on fire, leading to property damage and the death of a dog.
The recall if for the “GSI electronic 50W indoor pet heating comfort mats” with the model number GKC2G002. The mats came in different shapes, sizes and colors, including beige and pink, and have a white electrical cord.
The recalled mats were sold exclusively online at Amazon.con from July 2011 through March 2012. They are manufactured by Fuzhou Senhor Leisure Products Co., Ltd., of China.
Anyone that purchased on of these heating pads should immediately discontinue use and contact World Class, Inc. for a full refund. The seller is also actively trying to contact everyone that may have purchased these pads.
A World Class representative can be contacted at 888-941-5079 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. EDT, Monday through Thursday, or via email at [email protected].
