Those beautiful poinsettias and lilies are poisonous to a small dog so place these out of the dogs reach. The shiny tinsel, ribbons, and bows on gifts, and the tree ornaments may look similar to a small dog’s toys, so always remove these from the small dogs reach so they are not accessible.

When company arrives this is going to be a time of much activity. A small dog who is not use to this amount of noise and activity can respond with aggression, especially if little children and toddlers are chasing the dog. Consider putting the small dog in a secure room where they will not feel threatened.

Last is keeping an eye on the coming and going of guests. Some dogs are great at darting out the door when a stranger has opened the door. I know this one from experience!

The holiday season is a time to celebrate with family and friends. Take a few minutes and consider these small dog care tips for the holidays so everyone, including the small dog, has a great time!
