You have to live under a rock, WAY under, to not know that “The Artist” took best picture at the Oscar’s last night.  It is the first silent film to win best picture since the first Oscar ceremony over 80 years ago, as well as the first French film to receive the honor.  While it was Jean Dujardin that officially got the best actor award, one has to wonder if it is only because canines don’t get Oscars.  Uggie is certainly getting a lot of press.   In fact, even in New Zealand it is news that Uggie wore diamonds to the Oscars party.  This New Zealand Herald article puts the collar value around $200,000 USD.

The showbiz pooch was among the invitees to Harvey Weinstein’s party at Soho House in Los Angeles on Saturday and The Artist star donned a Chopard collar for the occasion.

Uggie was accompanied by three bodyguards and other guests were banned from being in the lift with him.

However, despite his doggy diva demands, Uggie was a big hit with other revelers and posed for pictures with a host of stars, including Katy Perry.

Uggie is probably the most famous Jack Russell Terrier in history now.  Although, he does have some tough competition in Krypto the Superdog of Superman fame, Moose of 1996 superbowl half-time fame, and the UK’s Chalky who even has his own beer named after him.  In any case, only Uggie wore diamonds to the Oscars party.
