Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG), the world’s veterinary emergency company that helps people and their pets when they need it most, held a month-long Dare to Care campaign to support VEG Cares and raise funds for underserved pets across the United States.
The campaign kicked off on September 1 in San Ramon, California when the Dare to Care Rocketship launched, and after visiting 24 VEG hospital locations and raising 700,000 for charity, it made its final landing in Valhalla, N.Y. on Sunday, October 3 with a celebratory pet-friendly 5K walk/run.
“Dare to Care is a celebration of our VEGgies coming together and giving back to local communities and their pets in need,” said Dr. David Bessler, founder and CEO of VEG. “The month-long celebration will also allow our VEGgies to support other causes that they are passionate about.”
During the month of September, each of the VEG hospital locations had its own Dare to Care Day when the rocketship arrived. On a hospital’s Dare to Care Day, 100% of all proceeds from that VEG location will go to charity, with 50% going to the hospital’s VEG Cares account and the other 50% will go to charities selected by VEG team members.
VEG Cares is VEG’s charitable program that provides life-saving care to pets in need at all VEG hospitals, including pets with families facing financial distress, animals displaced by natural disasters, police, service & fire animals, and animals under the care of a shelter or rescue organization. VEG partners with the 501(c)(3) Veterinary Care Foundation to collect donations and distribute funds to those that need them most.
Additionally, pet-lovers have the opportunity to support and donate to VEG Cares, register for the Dare to Care 5K walk-run in upstate New York, and enter into a giveaway. To learn more, please visit veg.vet/dare-to-care.
