Tiki, a Black Lab, hadn’t been feeling well. Medication prescribed to treat her vomiting, diarrhea, and lack of appetite hadn’t been working. When her veterinarian, Dr. Hisham Ibrahim, “Dr. I,” of Good Shepherd’s Veterinary Hospital in Mars, Pennsylvania took x-rays, he quickly discovered a softball sized mass in Tiki’s stomach.
Exploratory surgery was necessary to identify and remove the unidentified mass. But what the vet and his technicians found inside of Tiki’s stomach would absolutely amaze them.
“And I found this hair band attached to another hair band to another one to another one and to other things again,” Ibrahim explained to WTAE.
In total, the surgical team removed four rubber bands, a band-aid, 8 pairs of underwear, and 62 hair bands!
Removing the items, they said, was like a magician pulling a long string of scarves out of a hat.
Tiki is recovering well from her surgery.
We suspect her family is keeping a closer watch on their hair accessories!
