When Evansville, Indiana police were flagged down by a young person claiming to be frightened by two dogs loose in the neighborhood, the scene that unfolded ended with one dog dead after reportedly charging the officer who opened fire.
In the officer’s body cam video, the dog can be seen standing off in the distance before the officer whistles to him to get his attention. Then, as the dog begins barking and running toward the officer, he fires his gun, continuing to fire after the dog turns and runs away in the opposite direction.
14News obtained a recording of the officer’s body cam video.
Was this officer justified in shooting the dog? Weigh in with a comment below.

From the video it look like the dog is not even near the “officer”, just another bad response by police.

this is such crap…that dog was not fenced and would have attacked anyone walking near the house. This is dangerous and EXACTLY what we contact our police for. He was being charged and shot at the dog. This video does not show that the officer continued to shoot after the dog ran in the other direction. Give me a break.

He calls the dog, the dog reacts and he shoots? He provoked this. The fact that he shot and injured the dog, he should at least be charged with cruelty to animals. Sadly he will probably be patted on the back and told good job.
